How to get Grok Bot for free after the August 2026 launch. The official trial, the Cursor Ambassador path, and which paid plans include it.
The short answer
People are hunting this after Grok Bot launched in August 2026. There is an official free trial. It is a usage credit. It runs out. Cursor has not published a permanent free tier.
The lasting free path I know is the Cursor Ambassador Program. I am in that program. Grok Bot is part of what I get as an ambassador. The public benefits list on cursor.com/ambassadors does not name Grok Bot. It names free Cursor credits for personal usage, nightly builds, Slack, meetup funding, merch, and other goodies. I am reporting what I have, not a published Grok Bot line.
I run Ambassador Directory. I am a Cursor ambassador and a Raycast ambassador. The rule here is give and take: you contribute in the community, and you get credits, access, and tools back. Not a coupon. Not an affiliate deal.
What Grok Bot actually is
Grok Bot is a Cursor and SpaceXAI product. Digital teammates that do real jobs on a cloud computer with a browser and a terminal. Desktop and iOS. You can run many Bots in parallel.
Early beta launched 11 August 2026. Access expanded 21 August 2026.

The official free trial
The trial is a usage credit, not a set number of days, though a 7-day window also applies. Official write-up: https://cursor.com/help/grok-bot/plans
The credit is drawn down by agent steps and tokens, not by how many messages you send. One long job can burn it. Used credit is not restored.
Start small. Scope the first jobs tightly. Check usage on the plan screen before you run something large.
When the trial is gone, you upgrade or you get in another way. There is no published permanent free tier.
The ambassador path
You contribute: help new users, host meetups or hackathons, share what you learn, send product feedback, keep the forums useful. You get credits, access, and tools back. Not a coupon. Not a tracking link.
What Cursor publishes on cursor.com/ambassadors: free Cursor credits for personal usage, nightly builds, forum badge and moderation powers, meetup funding, stickers, Slack with the team, merch and other goodies. Space is limited. You must be 18 or older. Application plus Code of Conduct. They review weekly and try to reply in 2-3 weeks. Their preference is that you not stack other advocacy programs.
That public list does not say Grok Bot. I will not invent a line that is not there. I am a Cursor ambassador. Grok Bot is part of what I get in that deal. I am not saying every ambassador automatically gets Cursor Ultra, or that Cursor publishes a Grok Bot allotment for the program.
This is distinct from Campus Leads. Campus Leads is students only, about 5 hours a week. Applications reopen in January.

If you just want to pay
There is no standalone Grok Bot subscription. Access is included with some Cursor and SuperGrok plans. Official table: https://cursor.com/help/grok-bot/plans
- Included: Cursor Pro+, Cursor Ultra, and self-serve Cursor Teams (Standard and Premium). Every Teams member gets it. No Premium-seat gate.
- Also included: individual SuperGrok Plus or SuperGrok Heavy. Link from the Grok Bot plan screen. That is a usage grant. It does not change your Cursor plan.
- Not included: Cursor Pro, basic SuperGrok, SuperGrok Team, or SuperGrok Enterprise linking.
- Pro+ is generous weekly usage, below Ultra. Ultra is the highest weekly usage.
- Included usage resets weekly. Extra can go on-demand if you have that enabled.
